Environmental Science and Policy Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Hires 

The Department of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position in environmental science and policy. Appointments will be made at the assistant or associate professor level, with the possibility of full-professor appointments for exceptional candidates. 

The Department’s mission is solutions-oriented, policy-relevant research and scholarship, training the next generations of environmental managers, practitioners, and research scientists. Our faculty are leading scholars in the applied environmental social sciences dedicated to addressing pressing ocean, coastal, and climate challenges central to long-term sustainability and resilience. We are the hub at the Rosenstiel School for connecting the natural sciences with society and policy. Our work is supported by major university-wide interdisciplinary initiatives, such as the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy and the University Laboratory for Integrative Knowledge (U-LINK). 

We seek rising and established leaders in interdisciplinary environmental social sciences, broadly defined. Successful candidates may draw from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to environmental governance and justice, geography, planning, public health, anthropology, or the behavioral, decision, and economic sciences. Areas of focus may include human-environment interactions related to coasts, oceans, and land, with an emphasis on coastal zone management, water management, climate change risks and responses, sustainable development, species conservation, or natural resource management. Candidates with a proven record of implementing complex spatial data analysis, remote sensing, or big data tools are particularly encouraged to apply. 

Applicants must have a J.D. or Ph.D. in Environmental Science or related field by the expected start date of August 2022. Candidates must demonstrate strong interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research productivity and research partnerships, the potential to secure extramural funding, and commitment to teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are especially interested in scholars who demonstrate evidence of promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in research, teaching, and service.
