💼 Assistant/Associate Professor
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University (Ithaca campus) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the areas of risk to and resiliency of the built environment and human populations to natural and human-induced hazards. We are particularly interested in research that informs actions and responses in urban resilience. Examples of application areas of interest addressing risk and resilience include those arising from climate change (e.g., extreme weather events), aging infrastructure, vulnerabilities in urban infrastructure, and emerging risks to public health.
We seek applicants leveraging cutting-edge breakthroughs in AI, machine learning, and other advanced computational paradigms, alongside fundamental theoretical research and/or experimental, observational, and other types of data-driven approaches. Applicants are expected to develop novel methodologies and tools that make the built environment and human populations more resilient to emerging risks.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and will be expected to maintain a rigorous, well-funded program of leading-edge research and contribute to the undergraduate and graduate course curricula. The ability to form large interdisciplinary research teams to address complex problems will be viewed favorably, as well as potential linkages to Cornell Tech (NYC campus).
Applicants at the assistant professor level are strongly encouraged and candidates at the early associate professor level will also be considered. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin Dec 1, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled.
